This role involves leading and participating in the maintenance of landscaped areas, ensuring cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas, and performing various gardening and turf maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities
Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
Lead and participate in the maintenance of landscaped areas consisting of lawns, bushes, trees, flowers, shrubs, etc. through established practices and procedures
Develop and design new landscaping
Perform duties such as planting, watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, renovating, fertilizing, and pruning
Inspect school grounds to remove debris such as leaves, rocks, or other debris that could become a safety hazard or detract from the appearance of the property
Transport rubbish to the local landfill; transport plant material and mechanical equipment/parts
Apply herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides safely; maintain records of fertilizers and chemicals used and guide assigned grounds maintenance workers
Maintain and repair mowers, edgers, string trimmers, blowers, trenchers, sprayers, and related grounds maintenance machinery and equipment
Operate motorized equipment including but not limited to forklifts, skid steer loaders, backhoes, tractors, bush hogs, finishing mowers, reel mowers, riding mowers and push mowers
Maintain and repair irrigation systems including changing and adjusting heads, maintaining controllers, and assisting in large irrigation projects
Participate in preparation and maintenance of athletic fields and related facilities
Perform related work as assigned or required
Qualification
Required
Ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily
Skill-based work with minimal decision-making discretion
Experience in installing and maintaining landscape
Experience in pruning trees and shrubs
Ensuring cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas
Semi-skilled in gardening and turf maintenance
Ability to lead work functions for assigned crew
