Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor in Architectural and Civil Engineering

The typical distribution of work for this role is 80% teaching and 20% leadership and service
The selected candidate will be offered a multi-year contract which may be renewable; specific term length will vary based on start date
Qualification
Required
Candidates must have either (1) a PhD in architectural or civil engineering or a closely related field or (2) a master's degree in architectural or civil engineering, or a closely related field, with at least five years of relevant professional experience
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, supported by prior teaching experience, teaching philosophy, or evidence of reflective instructional practice
Experience with (or a strong interest in developing) hands-on, experiential, and project-based learning modules that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes
Familiarity with, or willingness to learn and apply, evidence-based best practices for teaching undergraduate and graduate engineering courses (e.g., inclusive pedagogy, active learning, assessment of learning outcomes)
Experience with online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced instruction, or a demonstrated interest in developing high-quality online learning experiences aligned with best practices in engineering education
Ability to connect engineering fundamentals to contemporary professional practice, including real-world applications and industry-relevant examples
Interest in mentoring and advising undergraduate students, including support for diverse student backgrounds and career pathways
Genuine enthusiasm for collaborative work and contributing to a collegial departmental culture that values shared teaching, service, and continuous improvement
Preferred
Industry experience
Professional licensure (e.g., PE), or sustained engagement with professional practice, while not required, is viewed as an asset
