IT Director

The IT Director will lead the governance, security, and continuous improvement of IT and digital services, managing supplier relationships and ensuring the organization transitions effectively to a lean, independent model.

Responsibilities
Own and define the IT service offering to the business, including scope of services, standards, and service levels and expectations
Provide clear leadership and direction across enterprise IT and OT-adjacent platforms
Translate business priorities into a clear, achievable IT roadmap (3-year horizon)
Act as the senior technology authority for the organization
Provide team leadership by providing clear priorities, coaching and development and first-line support oversight
Act as the business owner of IT outcomes delivered by the carve-out team and stabilize and refine the post-carve-out environment
Establish long-term standards, documentation, and operating models suitable for an independent company
Manage early-life ambiguity as the organization adapts from a large corporate environment to a lean stand-alone model, including service level and SIPs
Own all IT and digital supplier relationships, including ERP (NetSuite) + Oracle Data Warehouse, Historian and LIMS, DeltaV support vendors (governance and integration), CMMS (MaintainX), MSPs, cloud, cyber, and infrastructure providers
Lead supplier selection, onboarding, renegotiation, and exit (with procurement support)
Define, monitor, and enforce SLAs, KPIs, service credits, and performance reviews
Ensure suppliers are aligned to business outcomes, not supplier-driven agendas
Actively manage cross-supplier dependencies and resolve accountability gaps
Leverage suppliers to scale capability beyond the internal team
Own the cyber security strategy and risk posture for the organization
Ensure all suppliers comply with NIST-aligned security standards
Drive a Zero Trust approach across identity, access, endpoints, and third-party access
Own cyber risk assessment, incident response coordination, and executive escalation
Clearly articulate cyber risk and business impact to non-technical stakeholders
Protect the organization from reputational and commercial damage resulting from breaches
Ensure availability, resilience, and security of software platforms, site infrastructure, servers, networks, and firewalls (including OT boundary zones)
Own IT service management processes (incident, problem, change)
Ensure IT services are fit for a 24/7 operational, safety-critical environment
Work closely with Operations teams, who own DeltaV and core OT systems
Own and secure OT-adjacent infrastructure, including Servers, MIZ/DMZ firewalls, Networks supporting OT systems, Historian platforms
Understand OT failure modes and cyber implications, and guide the business toward improved resilience without overstepping engineering ownership
Own the central data warehouse platform to ensure governed, secure data flows between the platforms, to enable reporting and analytics as required by the business and to maintain clear data ownership: data by the business & platforms by IT
Lead the roadmap for proactive and condition-based maintenance
Enable integration between historian data, MaintainX, and ERP
Support the rollout and optimization of a fully digital field workforce including tablets for all field staff and mobile maintenance, inspection, and workflow tools
Ensure technology enhances reliability, safety, and efficiency in day-to-day operations
Qualification
Required
Senior IT leadership experience in industrial, energy, pipeline, terminal, or regulated environments
Proven experience managing supplier-led IT delivery models
Strong background in contract management, SLAs, KPIs, and vendor governance
Solid understanding of cyber security frameworks (NIST) and Zero Trust principles
Experience operating in lean IT organizations
Comfortable defining services, setting boundaries, and holding suppliers to account
Able to communicate complex technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in IT or related field required – minimum 10 years work experience
Preferred
Experience with NetSuite ERP
Exposure to DeltaV or similar DCS environments (governance level)
Experience with data warehouses, historian analytics, or proactive maintenance initiatives
Experience in post-carve-out or stand-alone company environments
Advanced degree preferred
