The American Heart Association is a leading voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. They are seeking an intern to support their Development Team, primarily for the Heart Walk event, where the intern will assist in outreach, event planning, and donor engagement activities.

Responsibilities

Conduct outreach to donors and conduct follow-up calls to past and current coaches/captains, top fundraising participants, and survivors to support participation
Assist with donor presentation preparation and gathering materials for sponsor follow-up after meetings, helping to maintain relationships with key stakeholders
Man AHA booths and tables at participating Heart Walk companies
Drive new Heart Walk company and community engagement through outreach and dropoffs
Assist with pulling reports, data entry, and organizing event-related information to track progress and outcomes
Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing printed materials, assembling thank-you cards, and organizing event supplies
Support the planning and execution of Hands-Only CPR demonstrations
Support and lead donor presentations for ELT meetings, company rallies, and more
Build comprehensive bios and business summaries for top donor prospects
Design (in canva) sponsorship proposals, impact reports, mission one pagers, etc. to be provided to the donor community
Create social media content
Assist with the planning, coordinating, and executing pre-event logistics, and on-site event management for multiple community events

Required

Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, public relations, nonprofit fundraising, or event management
Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising
Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills
Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff
Effective oral and presentation communication skills
Proficient in multiple social media platforms
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities
Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Basic knowledge of Canva
Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection and reliable transportation
Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future
