Responsibilities
Lead controller-level accounting processes for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and insight
Oversee and mentor bookkeepers across client engagements, providing coaching, feedback, and accountability
Review financial statements and working papers to ensure high quality and consistent standards
Manage month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting across multiple clients
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and performance analyses (client-dependent)
Identify process gaps and implement improvements to workflows, documentation, and systems
Support client escalations, cleanups, and complex accounting questions
Communicate clearly with clients, setting expectations and building trust through reliable delivery
Qualification
Required
10+ years of accounting experience, including significant controller or senior accounting responsibility
Proven experience providing controller-level oversight (month-end close, reconciliations, reporting)
Strong QuickBooks Online required; QuickBooks Desktop a plus
Task management and prioritization skills (you will manage multiple deadlines and clients simultaneously)
Ability to thrive in a client-service environment with frequent context-switching
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting best practices
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Experience managing, mentoring, or reviewing the work of accounting or bookkeeping staff
High accountability, strong judgment, and attention to detail
Comfort working in person in the Twin Cities (office + client sites)
