ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN
The State of New Hampshire's Department of Corrections is seeking an Electronic Technician for their NH State Prison for Men. The role involves performing installation, testing, and repairs on electronic security systems while ensuring security and safety within the facility.

Responsibilities
Provides security, training and supervision for inmate maintenance workers in the electronics trades
Detects electronic deficiencies or mechanical malfunctions and takes appropriate action to effect repairs or service and ensures all work is in accordance
Conducts weekly testing on a portion of the electronic security system and maintains a record of testing and repairs
Provides technical support to the Electronic Technician II in repairing, installing, maintaining and testing of electronic security, communication and control system
Demonstrates possession of knowledge required to read blueprints and schematics and interpret drawings for repairs
Required to adhere to safety regulations as mandated by Safety Codes and departmental policy
Qualification
Required
Equivalent combination of 2.5 years of education and experience after completion of high school
Education and experience must be in electronics, electronic security systems, electricity, radio, wire communications, electronic equipment, or related field
Valid driver's license and access to transportation
Must be available for on-call through a rotating schedule for off-hour coverage to respond to emergencies and requests for timely assistance, in accordance with departmental policy
Must be willing to work an extended and/or flexible schedule, to include nights and weekends for emergency response to needs at the facilities
May be required to report for work with little notice due to emergencies
Must pass security and background screenings required for correctional environments
Successful completion of the Corrections Academy within 12 months of hire and continuing certification as correctional line personnel as established by the certifying authority
Preferred
Trade school training in electricity or completion of a 2-year college or technical institute program with a major study in the field of electronics is preferred
A standard apprenticeship under a Master Electrician is preferred
