The US Army Corps of Engineers is responsible for engineering and architectural analysis, designs, and services for various projects. They are seeking an experienced Professional Engineer to lead the Structural Engineering Section, providing technical guidance and oversight on structural engineering aspects of District projects.

Responsibilities
Acting as the primary supervisor and recognized structural engineering specialist for the District
Providing technical guidance and oversight on all structural engineering aspects of District projects, including inland navigation, flood protection, and major lock and dam rehabilitations
Performing and directing a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians in the planning, design, and analysis of project features
Conducting technical reviews of design memoranda and plans to ensure accuracy and adequacy
Managing the section's program, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for a variety of projects
Fulfilling first-level supervisory duties, including assigning and reviewing work, identifying training needs, and managing personnel matters
As needed, performing non-supervisory technical work, including project design, studies, and reporting
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, which includes: 1) Structural design and analysis; 2) Plans and specifications preparation; 3) Inland navigation design; 4) Inspection of HSS/HCS; 5) Exposure to Bridge inspection program and dam safety
Professional Engineer (PE) license upon start date
Possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possession to operate vehicles
All positions require the applicant to be a citizen of the United States
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, are required to register for Selective Service prior to appointment
