Traffic Control Technician
The City of Naples is responsible for maintaining traffic control systems, and they are seeking a Traffic Control Technician to perform installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic signals and related devices. The role includes gathering traffic data and ensuring safety through proper signage and roadway markings.

Responsibilities
Assists with repairs of traffic signals, control cabinets and related devices, including loops, pedestrian sign crossings, etc; checks and repairs signal loop wires, changes times, programs controllers and u.p.s checks; replaces batteries; clean traffic cabinets twice a year; and installs new controller cabinets, pull boxes, conduit pipe, and signal monitors
Assists with installations, repairs, replaces and maintains the City's street lights, as assigned; replaces various traffic signal parts, such as bulbs, ballasts, load switches, controllers, detectors, fuses; rewires lights as needed; replaces broken or damaged light poles and fixtures; and collects FPL pole numbers for Administration
Locates utilities per Sunshine One Call program; locates underground electrical and fiber conduits in the City
Installs overhead span wires and hangs signs; inspects new loop wires
Resets and straightens sign posts; installs and replaces faded and/or vandalized signs in the City
Repairs sidewalks and pothole defects; checks sidewalk for trip hazards, marks defects and make up work orders for repairs; fills and repairs potholes; performs layout and painting of road markings and parking spaces
Operates a variety of standard and specialized tools in performing essential tasks, i.e., meters, loop testers, load testers, drills, soldering guns, thermo machines, striping machines
Utilizes lift trucks, bucket hoists, cranes in performing duties, as applicable to assigned area
Places vehicle detection devices at various points throughout the City for gathering traffic counts and flow data; obtains monthly and quarterly traffic counts for the State; and prepares speed studies for Police Department and Traffic Division
Investigates complaints of defective transportation and traffic related items which are reported and notifies responsible parties of defects
Consults with contractors, builders, and residents regarding traffic and transportation concerns or issues
Functions on call for traffic signal and sign repairs. Performs other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree in related field; supplemented by two (2) years experience in traffic controls, instrumentations/device installations, maintenance and repair; understanding ROWs, experience in transportation MOT set-ups
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license and a driving record which meets or exceeds minimum City driving standards
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Florida Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 16 months of hire
Preferred
International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Technician or Signs & Road Markings level 'I' certification, or Transportation Engineering Degree (B.S.) is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position
Bucket OSHA Certification preferred
