Information Technology Network Engineer
Control Associates, Inc. is seeking an IT Network Engineer to be responsible for the design, development, modernization, and maintenance of the organization’s IT infrastructure. The role involves leading performance improvement across business systems, networking, and cybersecurity, while ensuring secure and scalable operations.
Responsibilities
As we continue our Technology Modernization Process, this lead will evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to system performance, scalability, and security
She/He will define and maintain technical standards, reference architectures, lifecycle plans, and technical documentation of system configurations, diagrams, and workflows
She/He will lead IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations, modernizations, and security initiatives, develop timelines and tech documentation, and coordinate activities with MSPs when needed
This IT Engineer will meet directly with each internal business owner and learn what each business specifically needs from technology to maintain success and translate those requests into technical requirements
She/He will administer and maintain Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu), Active Directory, Group Policy, identity services, and system hardening standards
Responsible for the management and optimization of virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), including performance tuning, resource allocation, and HA/DR configurations
This Engineer will directly support hybrid integrations involving Azure, Office 365, identity synchronization, and cloud-hosted workloads
This IT Engineer will also configure, administer, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN networks, switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, wireless, and routing protocols
She/He will oversee all MSP deliverables and work directly with each one to ensure stable network operations, review monitoring data, validate technical configurations and documentations, review reports, and ensure adherence to industry’s best practices and internal security policies
Support existing Cybersecurity products and services, including incident response planning and operations, the recording of risks and issues, and advance proactive security practices
She/He will provide advanced troubleshooting of complex infrastructure issues and act as the final technical escalation point internally
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
3+ years of experience in systems engineering, network administration, or similar technical role within a complex network architecture
Must have Strong proficiency with: Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Linux (Ubuntu)
Must have Strong proficiency with: Networking concepts and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing)
Must have Strong proficiency with: Virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper-V)
Must have Strong proficiency with: Cybersecurity principles, internal controls, and EDR/SOC tools
Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
Experience working directly with MSPs or external technical vendors
Strong analytical skills and ability to perform root-cause analysis
Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and electronic, including the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred
Preferred certifications include: CCNA, Server+, VMware VCP, Azure Administrator, Security+
Experience with Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and hybrid cloud environments
PowerShell scripting
Experience configuring and validating firewall environments (SonicWall or similar)
Experience with enterprise storage (NAS/SAN, iSCSI, SMB/NFS)
Exposure to telephony systems, PBX architectures, or VoIP troubleshooting
