Responsibilities
Write breaking news hits, evergreen utilities, and features
Write about the creator economy and the creators who are driving social trends
Be comfortable brand-building and promoting Mashable content on social
Write about phones, apps, and other products and developments in tech spaces with a conversational and engaging tone
Proactively pitch stories, and always be looking for reliable sources and interesting angles on fresh, tech- and digital culture-related topics
Help elevate the quality of our journalism with forward-looking enterprise and original content
Engage audiences with our journalism via social platforms
Review and write about new products and software releases (inclusive of affiliate linking)
Write content around deals on products (inclusive of affiliate linking)
Qualification
Required
2+ years as a digital culture or engagement editor
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of the digital space and Mashable's core coverage areas
Understand audience listening, including using trending, engagement and historical audience data to drive successful content plans
Preferred
Deep familiarity with online trends, the latest tech hardware and software, and creator culture
Active social media presence
Ability to quickly and cleanly edit and write news hits
Ability to spot trends, especially on social
Experience coaching a team in writing about trends
Ability to create content in a variety of formats, including video
Knowledge of pop culture and current events
Familiarity with the tech and tools creators are using to connect in social spaces
Ability to help develop and execute content strategy that amplifies journalism on social platforms
Ability to build engaged communities in social spaces
Detail-oriented writing skills
Ability to generate compelling story ideas and understand the magic of a good headline
Natural self-starter and organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment
Team player who values the success of their reports, coworkers and Mashable as a whole
Top-notch writing skills with a firm grasp of AP style and ability to quickly turn around clean copy
Well-versed in SEO and supporting content strategy on a variety of social media platforms
