WIC Program Diector
Piedmont Health Services, Inc. is a nonprofit and Federally Qualified Health Center in North Carolina, dedicated to providing accessible primary healthcare. Responsibilities
Direct, plan, implement, and evaluate all aspects of the WIC Program
Ensure compliance with USDA, NCDHHS, and local agency policies, procedures, and reporting requirements
Develop and maintain program policies, workflows, and quality improvement initiatives
Serve as the primary liaison with NCDHHS WIC Branch and other regulatory partners
Serves as agency’s principal liaison to the NC WIC Program; presenting reports as needed, assuring program integrity through programmatic auditing both locally and at state level, and completion of contract agreements
Coordinates practical field experiences for nutrition students, and interns
Conducts quarterly staff meetings, nutritionists, supervisor meetings and trainings
Organizes required and additional outreach efforts for the WIC/lactation programs
Organizes and collaborates with other agencies to provide trainings
Writes and organizes grant efforts to further the WIC/lactation program
Coordinates program development in the area of WIC/lactation within PHS
Supports the organization’s mission, goals and objectives and provides leadership to the WIC Program
Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with the organization’s policies, state and federal laws
Responsible for program planning, implementation of new policies, and on-going program evaluation and quality improvement
Oversee program budgeting, grant management, and fiscal reporting
Responsible for cost center budget (to include oversight of expenditures and external grant funding)
Monitor expenditures to ensure appropriate use of federal and state funds
Prepare and submit required financial and programmatic reports accurately and on time
Participate in audits, management evaluations, and corrective action planning
Manages Breastfeeding Support Program in partnership with UNC Hospitals and Cooperative Extension Agency of Orange County including ensuring representation of WIC program in community meetings related to lactation
Qualification
Required
Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education with a Master's degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition or Nutrition from an accredited college or university and one year of nutrition counseling experience; or Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education and two years nutrition counseling experience
Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in public health, nutrition programs, or WIC administration Supervisory or management experience required
Requires frequent sitting for long periods, operation of standard office machines and computer. May require lifting of up to 25 pounds
Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Requires use of office equipment, such as computer terminals, telephones or copiers
Requires normal vision range
Work is performed in an office, hospital, and home environment and exposes worker to potential environmental and health contaminants via contact with staff and clients
Some travel will be required for this position
Requires valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
Preferred
Knowledge of USDA WIC regulations and North Carolina WIC policies
Managing federal grants and public health budgets
English/Spanish bilingual preferred
