Vice President of Operations

Confidential company is seeking a Vice President of Operations who will lead and scale global field operations for satellite ground station development, maintenance, and repair. The role involves overseeing operational execution across multiple regions, ensuring high-quality delivery of services while building a high-performing workforce and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute a multi-year operations strategy aligned with investor-backed growth objectives
Lead all field operations, including installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and emergency repair of satellite ground station infrastructure
Develop and execute operational strategies that support company growth, customer commitments, and long-term scalability across regions. Drive modernization initiatives, leveraging industry tools to enable scalability and data-driven decision-making
Oversee all operations functions: field services, logistics, supply chain, logistics, quality, and environmental health and safety (EHS)
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma or similar methodologies
Define and track robust Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and tiered management systems for real-time performance monitoring related to safety, quality, cost, schedule, productivity, and customer outcomes
Identify and mitigate operational risks related to logistics, supply chain, staffing, and global deployment
Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of field services with a strong focus on uptime, reliability, and customer satisfaction
Oversee workforce planning, dispatch, and utilization for field engineers, technicians, and subcontractors
Drive standardization of field procedures, tools, documentation, and best practices across all sites
Ensure flawless execution of mission-critical deployments and composite repair programs under stringent safety and regulatory standards
Standardize field service playbooks, SLAs, and emergency response protocols for domestic and international operations
Ensure operations meet customer-specific quality standards
Own Quality Management System (ISO 9001/AS9100), internal audits, and compliance with FAA, DoD, ITAR, and OSHA/EHS requirements
Champion a strong, safety-first culture with proactive risk management and continuous training
Optimize procurement, inventory, and supplier relationships to support rapid scaling and cost efficiency
Implement S&OP processes and logistics strategies to ensure timely delivery and operational resilience
Own operational budgets, forecasting, and cost controls for global field services
Optimize operating margins through efficiency gains, vendor management, and scalable service models
Support pricing, contract reviews, and service delivery assumptions during business development activities. Forecast capacity and resource needs; align capital expenditures with strategic priorities
Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing operations leadership team
Develop succession plans and training programs for field and operations management talent
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning
Build and develop a strong bench of skilled field services employees; foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Implement training programs for technical skills, safety certifications, and leadership development
Act as a key executive interface for major customers on operational performance and issue resolution
Collaborate as needed on new ground station deployments, technology transitions, and design-for-serviceability initiatives
Support mergers, acquisitions, and integration of new operational capabilities as needed

Required

15+ years of progressive operations leadership, including senior leadership roles
Demonstrated experience managing global field services or operations in satellite, aerospace, telecommunications, defense, or critical infrastructure industries
Strong understanding of satellite ground systems, RF infrastructure, or complex electro-mechanical systems
Proven track record of scaling operations, improving margins, and delivering high-reliability services
Experience leading geographically dispersed teams across multiple time zones
Expertise in Lean/CI, enterprise planning, QMS, and compliance frameworks
Strong financial acumen and P&L ownership experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred

Preferred

Direct experience with satellite ground station development, maintenance, and repair
Familiarity with government and defense contracting environments and compliance frameworks (e.g., FAA, ITAR)
Lean, Six Sigma, or similar operational excellence certifications
Experience supporting rapid growth, international expansion, or post-merger integration
Certifications (desired): Lean Six Sigma, PMP, ASQ, CMRP
