Physical Design Engineer
Programming.com is seeking an experienced Physical Design Engineer to join their Silicon Engineering team. The role involves block-level physical implementation, timing closure, and collaboration with various teams to optimize design flows for performance, power, and area.
Responsibilities
Execute block-level synthesis, place & route, timing signoff, physical signoff, LEC, and electrical signoff
Collaborate with Microarchitecture and Logic Design teams to resolve design issues and improve PPA
Own floorplanning, IP placement, timing constraints, and UPF (Unified Power Format) development
Partner with Infrastructure/EDA/CAD teams to enhance design flows and methodologies
Use a data-driven approach to influence tool selection and physical design methodologies for optimal results
Interface with vendor teams to ensure milestone goals are achieved on time and with high quality
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
Relevant experience in ASIC/SoC physical design
Proficiency with Synopsys ICC2/Fusion Compiler, Cadence Innovus, and PrimeTime tools
Strong knowledge of STA, clock tree synthesis (CTS), power optimization, and physical verification
Experience with LEC, UPF, and timing constraints
Solid understanding of EDA flows, methodologies, and scripting (e.g., TCL, Python, or Perl)
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment
