Consulting Associate, Environmental Geology/Science/Engineering
ERM is a global sustainability leader seeking a motivated Consulting Associate in Environmental Geology/Science/Engineering to support site investigation and remediation projects. Responsibilities
Supporting environmental investigations that help clients understand and reduce risk
Conducting field sampling and site characterization to inform remediation and compliance decisions
Helping deliver environmental solutions that improve land, water, and community health
Ensuring projects meet regulatory standards while upholding ERM’s commitment to safety and quality
Providing reliable data and insights that drive technical reports, client deliverables, and regulatory submissions
Conduct field work, including:
Soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, waste, and building material sampling
Aquifer testing, drilling oversight, soil logging, and well installation
Monitoring well development, purging, sampling, and construction oversight
Coordinate and direct subcontractors such as drillers, surveyors, and laboratories
Support environmental remediation and demolition projects, including system operations and maintenance
Compile, analyze, and interpret environmental datasets (soil, groundwater, air, sediment, etc.)
Prepare technical figures, exhibits, and reports for regulatory submittals
Review groundwater chemistry data to support environmental assessments and reporting
Perform Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments for property transactions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
Manage work within defined scopes, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations
Communicate effectively with subcontractors, regulatory agencies, tenants, and clients during field activities
Qualification
Required
BS in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or environmental engineering (or 8+ years of relevant experience)
Recent graduate to 2 years of experience, including willingness/interest in field assignments
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to document detailed technical data
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across project teams
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving aptitude
Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines in a consulting-paced environment
Commitment to safety and adherence to established Health & Safety protocols
Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area
Willingness to travel regionally up to 75% (with overnights) and perform 25% office-based work

Preferred
Prior environmental field experience
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
Mechanical aptitude and hands‑on troubleshooting skills
