IN HOUSE: Engineering Administrator
NEOGOV is part of the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County, seeking an Engineering Administrator to perform administrative and supervisory functions related to public utility projects. The role involves planning, coordinating, and supervising the installation of water and sewer utilities, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with local specifications.

Responsibilities
Supervises and evaluates assigned staff, handles all employee concerns, directs work assignments, counsels and disciplines employees when necessary, and completes employee performance appraisals
Reviews water and sewer construction plans for compliance with Athens-Clarke County standards
Evaluates potential water and sewer line capabilities; makes appropriate recommendations
Plans, designs, supervises, and reviews public utility construction projects
Coordinates field surveys
Provides public policy information to the public
Plans and supervises the G.I.S. mapping of public utilities lines
Reviews final plats; makes recommendations
Plans, coordinates, and reviews the installation of utility lines
Serves as Project Engineer for public utilities additions and improvements
Tracks work progress and performs final inspection of contracted public utility projects
Estimates materials and job costs to complete public utility projects
Develops and maintains specifications and bid documents
Coordinates the acquisition of rights-of-way and easements
Coordinates and reviews the construction of buildings
Receives and/or prepares reports, correspondence, forms, charts, and other documentation; reviews, processes, and/or forwards as appropriate; maintains records; performs other clerical duties
Answers the telephone; provides information, advice, and guidance; takes and relays messages and/or directs calls to appropriate personnel; returns calls as necessary
Responds to routine requests for information from officials, employees, members of the staff, the public, or other individuals
Performs other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, with five years of experience in a utility engineering capacity with exposure to field construction activities required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
Three years of supervisory experience is required
Must possess a valid driver's license
Preferred
Certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
