Responsibilities

Primary responsibility for sample receiving, processing and delivery of specimens to testing areas
Prepares reference laboratory specimens to assure specimen handling and shipping requirements are met
Registers, orders, and accessions specimens utilizing the laboratory and hospital information systems
Assists with and often leads orientation to all employees and students
Develops, maintains, and updates training and competency programs as necessary to ensure quality and to maintain accreditation
Correctly performs and documents testing, troubleshooting, quality control and maintenance on testing

Qualification

Laboratory science degreeClinical laboratory experiencePhlebotomy certificationMedical Laboratory Assistant certificationCustomer service

Required

High School Diploma/GED
1 or more years of previous experience in a clinical laboratory

Preferred

Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in CLIA regulation 42 CFR 493
Certified as a Phlebotomy Technician, ASCP-certified Medical Laboratory Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant
