Strategic Sourcing Engineer II

Responsibilities
Assists in the design and/or project/process management of new and current products, programs, tools and acceptance equipment under technical guidance of higher level engineers or departmental management
Develops manufacturing and measuring methods which designate tooling, gages, acceptance equipment, and processing procedures
Supports new supplier onboarding activities by assessing technical capabilities, providing training and preparing for audit
Assists in capacity assessments of suppliers to help determine and prevent current and future bottlenecks and ensure right sizing of supply base
Executes commodity and supplier strategic sourcing strategy
Provides input into overall Make vs. Buy decision making process
Develops procedures and performs routine to moderately complex engineering evaluations, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work to assure product manufacturability
Provides technical assistance in appropriate manufacturing and inspection areas
Monitors data and metrics to identify trends within the supply base that indicate action is required
Builds and maintains strong relationships and communication plans with suppliers
Conducts audits to anticipate, identify, and correct problems and to measure quality levels and trends
Interacts with design agencies, suppliers, and internal organizations to assist in resolving design, development, production, and acceptance issues
Prepares evaluation reports and analysis of new technologies needed, makes recommendations for and initiates improvements for product, and helps supply base adapt and evolve
Assists in resolving global or strategic issues that impact multiple part families, commodities or suppliers to improve productivity and quality and reduce flowtime
May perform other duties as required
Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to "stop" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or bachelors of science degree in Physics from an accredited program
Two or more years of relevant experience in Engineering or related technical activities
Preferred
Demonstrated experience working with vendors and supply chain, including basic technical knowledge to understand manufacturing capabilities, industry standards, and quality control
Demonstrated application of analyzing engineering designs and specifications to achieve efficient and reliable manufacturing or acceptance processes
Ability to manage projects and work independently while holding cross-functional teams accountable to execution of tasks
