Programme Manager - Science - INTERNAL ONLY
Central Bedfordshire College is seeking a Programme Manager in Science to join their Science department. The role involves leading and managing the development and delivery of high-quality curriculum, overseeing teaching and assessment standards, and managing staff development and compliance with quality standards.

Responsibilities
Lead and manage the development, delivery and strategic direction of a defined programme area, ensuring curriculum is high‑quality, current and aligned to industry and awarding‑body expectations
Oversee and improve LTA standards, ensuring inclusive, high‑quality teaching, strong progression outcomes and timely interventions where courses or learner performance fall below expectations
Manage and develop teaching and support staff through effective recruitment, induction, CPD, performance management and consistent implementation of college people‑management policies
Maintain expert knowledge of qualification frameworks, lead on curriculum quality processes, liaise with awarding bodies and employers, contribute to SARs and ensure KPI targets and statutory requirements are met
Teach a fractional timetable, support cross‑college activities (ID checks, invigilation, events), and uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and TBCG values while keeping the learner experience central
Qualification
Required
Level 7 qualification (or equivalent experience) with GCSE-level English and Maths if using experience route
Excellent knowledge of the Science sector, curriculum and teaching practice
Proven experience implementing strategy, developing policies and procedures, and managing teams within a Science or education environment
Strong communication, interpersonal, influencing and decision-making skills
Excellent organisation, prioritisation, project management, numeracy, IT proficiency and analytical capability
Able to build professional relationships, lead effectively, work under pressure, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality while modelling high professional standards and attention to detail
Works in line with TBCG values and policies, maintains appropriate boundaries, adapts working hours to business needs, travels across campuses and upholds safeguarding, EDI and health & safety expectations
