Responsibilities
Establishes and maintains vegetation on slopes and disturbed areas
Installs and maintains erosion and sedimentation control structures
Drives dump truck and operates hydroseeder
Inspects loads and directs to proper disposal area
Assists customers with questions and concerns; maintains radio contact with landfill personnel
Makes daily bank deposits; maintains division inventory of parts and supplies
Prepares daily interior and exterior duty assignments for inmates; transports inmates to and from work sites and Muscogee County Prison
Enforces environmental regulations; completes regular inspections of facilities and submits all required reports
Operates bulldozer
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years
Must possess a Commercial Driver's license or have the ability to obtain Commercial Driver's license (with applicable endorsements) within the first six weeks of employment
This position is required to supervise state inmate's labor
Employee must pass the Department of Corrections three-day certification within the time frame required by this department, which is normally six months but may be altered
Ability to operate a motor vehicle
Ability to operate heavy equipment
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques utilized in the performance of waste disposal activities
Knowledge of erosion and sedimentation best management practices
Knowledge of the principles and practices of report preparation, filing, and records management
Skill in problem solving and decision making
Skill in management and supervision of inmate laborers
Skill in operating standard office equipment including work related computer applications
Skill in oral and written communication
Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations
