System Administrator III
GAMA-1 Technologies, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator III with a focus on Linux to provide advanced technical expertise in managing Linux-based enterprise systems. The role involves administering, configuring, and maintaining Linux systems while ensuring secure and compliant operations in a federal environment.

Responsibilities
Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise Linux systems (e.g., RHEL, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, or equivalent) as a primary responsibility
Perform Linux OS lifecycle management, including patching, upgrades, hardening, and vulnerability remediation in accordance with federal security standards (STIGs, CIS benchmarks)
Configure and manage Linux services using systemd, cron, and related service management tools
Manage user accounts, sudo access, SSH configuration, and authentication integrations (LDAP/Active Directory)
Configure and maintain SELinux, firewalld/iptables, and host-based security controls
Troubleshoot complex Linux system, storage, networking, and application issues using logs and system diagnostic tools
Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes for Linux systems
Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure modernization initiatives
Develop and maintain automation scripts (primarily Bash; Python preferred) to improve operational efficiency
Create and maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Collaborate with network, cloud, cybersecurity, and application teams to ensure integrated and secure operations
Support compliance audits, vulnerability assessments, root cause analysis, and remediation activities
Contribute to automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual workload
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent years of experience
4-8 years of hands-on Linux system administration experience in enterprise or federal environments
Demonstrated experience administering Linux systems as a primary role responsibility
Proficiency with Linux OS management, including patching, service management, logging, and troubleshooting
Strong scripting and automation skills using Bash; Python or PowerShell experience is a plus
Working knowledge of virtualization platforms and hybrid cloud environments
Understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, and firewalls
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Windows Server experience a plus
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Ensure adherence to organizational information security policies and procedures; actively participate in mandatory security awareness training; and manage confidential and sensitive information in accordance with company protocols and data protection standards
Preferred
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
CompTIA Security+, Linux+, or equivalent certifications
Experience supporting Linux systems in regulated or federal environments
Familiarity with DISA STIGs, CIS benchmarks, and vulnerability remediation processes
Experience with configuration management and automation tools (e.g., Ansible)
Knowledge of ITIL, Agile, or SAFe methodologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly document technical solutions
