Operations Intern | DWB Incubator

The Rockefeller University has established the Ford Center Incubator to support biotechnology start-ups. The Operations Intern will support the daily operations of the incubator, maintaining office and laboratory spaces, and assisting with various tasks to ensure a well-functioning environment.
Education

Responsibilities

Maintaining the incubator’s pantry and breakroom, including stocking supplies, maintaining an up-to-date inventory of items, refilling consumables/reservoirs, and cleaning shared ceramic/glassware
Maintaining shared office equipment, including copiers, printers, shredders, A/V systems, whiteboards, and furniture
Assisting in ensuring the office space – including pantry area, conference/phone rooms, and reception area – are kept clean, organized, and restocked daily
Assisting the Laboratory Technician with various light tasks, including receiving, unloading, labeling, inventory management, restocking of supplies, waste removal, and assisting in the maintenance of certain laboratory instrumentation/equipment
Reconfiguring office furniture depending on the occasion, e.g. lectures vs. meetings
Retrieving packages or items from other parts of the campus, including the mailroom, loading docks, and dining facilities

Required

H.S. Diploma
At least 1-2 years of operations experience in an academic or commercial setting, or equivalent experience
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time

Preferred

Knowledge of chemical and biological safety, and the biotech industry
Strong interpersonal skills, including good oral and written communication abilities, appropriate for high-profile stakeholders
The ability to work independently and collaborate with interdepartmental colleagues, incubator tenants, and third-party partners
High attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to exercise authority with incubator visitors and residents
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
