MEP Engineer ($122,000 - $175,000+)
Irvine Company Chicago is seeking an MEP Engineer to join their Capital Projects team. This role is crucial for managing and coordinating building infrastructure projects, focusing on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems from inception to completion.

Responsibilities
Lead the development of project documents, coordinating third-party design teams from schematic design through construction documents
Review schematic designs, construction drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with Irvine Company standards and building codes
Organize the creation of project budgets and capital requests, iterating through the process as required to own the project budget
Develop and implement value engineering strategies to maintain project budgets while ensuring system integrity
Oversee bid package fulfillment, respond to RFIs, and collaborate on bidder selection and pricing for MEP-specific scopes
Manage day-to-day processes including scheduling, quality assurance, and execution of MEP plans
Conduct regular job site visits to monitor progress, attend weekly O-A-C meetings, and review schedule anomalies with the General Contractor
Coordinate and manage acceptance walks with General Contractors and Quality Assurance to ensure system functionality
Secure warranty and 'As-built' drawings, and manage the GC to secure Certificates of Occupancy and bond releases
Deliver technical presentations and routine updates for the senior executive team regarding infrastructure status
Qualification
Required
Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering or a construction-related curriculum
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering design or project management experience, preferably with 5 years in multi-family construction
Licensing: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of California is required
Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and building codes
Advanced computer skills in MS Project, Excel, and estimating applications are required
Driver's License: Valid California driver's license and maintenance of continuous vehicle liability insurance
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders, navigate scaffolding, and walk moderate distances on job sites
Preferred
Preferred Years of Relevant Work Experience: Experience in multi-family construction
Preferred Education: A Master's degree in Engineering is a plus
Technical Certifications: ASHRAE HVAC Designer certification is a plus
