This role involves overseeing day-to-day accounting, financial planning, compliance, and governance while providing strategic financial leadership to the organization.

Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Compliance
Nonprofit GAAP accounting and financial reporting (AICPA standards)
Annual audit coordination (financial, governmental, workers’ compensation)
IRS Form 990 and Hawaiʻi General Excise Tax filings
Grant accounting, compliance tracking, and reporting
Payroll, benefits, and retirement plan oversight
Annual operating, development, and facilities budgets
Multi‑year forecasting and cash‑flow modeling
Capital project and aircraft restoration financial oversight
Donor‑restricted fund stewardship
Board and Finance Committee reporting
Internal controls, risk management, and process improvement
Vendor and contract financial oversight

Qualification

Nonprofit accountingFinancial reportingCPA licenseAudit coordinationFinancial planningSage accounting systemsRisk managementProcess improvementVendor oversightTeam leadership

Required

8–15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
Significant nonprofit accounting and audit experience
Demonstrated ability to operate as a hands‑on senior financial leader

Preferred

Active CPA license strongly preferred (or equivalent senior nonprofit experience)
Public Accounting Manager or Senior Manager background
Museum, cultural institution, or governmental experience
Experience with Sage or comparable accounting systems (Option to change platforms)
