ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN 3
Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is the largest industrial employer in Virginia, specializing in the design and construction of U.S. Navy nuclear vessels. The Engineering Technician 3 will perform noise inspection attributes for submarine systems, conduct hydrostatic testing, maintain test equipment, analyze test data, and support engineers with various technical tasks.

Responsibilities
Performance of noise inspection attributes for submarine systems
Performance of hydrostatic testing
Maintenance of test equipment
Analysis of test data
Administrative duties such as processing of work permits, tagouts, and completion of government certification documents
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics)
Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data
Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports
May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis

Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
