Product Development Engineer - Driveline
Ford Motor Company is a global leader in automotive manufacturing, seeking a highly motivated Product Development Engineer to join their Driveline Systems team. Responsibilities
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance component performance, reduce cost, and improve manufacturing efficiency
Design, develop, and release driveline components from concept to production, ensuring alignment with program attribute requirements and timing
Translate vehicle-level system requirements into detailed driveline targets, specifications, and engineering drawings
Familiar with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) to create and refine detailed designs
Plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive validation and verification testing, including DVP&R activities, to ensure product robustness and performance
Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including Driveline Systems, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and external suppliers
Identify, analyze, and resolve complex engineering issues related to component design, manufacturing, and field performance
Manage supplier relationships, including technical reviews, component sourcing, and evaluation to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness
Ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets, communicating progress and potential risks to stakeholders
Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, test reports, and engineering release documents
Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in driveline technology, and regulatory requirements to foster innovation and ensure compliance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
2+ years of automotive experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, global environment
Demonstrated project management skills
Demonstrated presentation skills
Preferred
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
5+ years experience in driveline component development
Familiarity with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) processes
