Emergency Management Intern

NEOGOV is seeking an Emergency Management Intern to support the Port of Corpus Christi Authority's emergency management program. The intern will assist in the development and coordination of exercises, support program activities, and participate in emergency operations.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development, coordination and execution of an exercise to test a portion of the Port’s Emergency Action Plan
Support the completion of an After-Action Review and Improvement Plan for the exercise
Assist the Manager of Emergency Management in daily program activities and general administrative duties with the primary focus on training and exercise program development and operational readiness
Attends meetings, participates in exercises and assist in the Emergency Operations Center and/or Command Post during emergencies
Adheres to PCCA policy, and maintains good employee relations
Assist the division with special projects as directed and performs other duties as assigned
Spring Semester: Assists with coordination of the regional preparedness conference and exercise
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Candidates shall be enrolled in an accredited college or university majoring in public safety, fire science, law enforcement; occupational safety, emergency management, or emergency response
Demonstrated written and oral proficiency in the English language
Strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills
Organizational and time management skills
Ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet
Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management
Current class standing of a Sophomore or above
Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above
Ability to work a maximum of 25 hours per week, within an 8AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday workweek

Preferred

Proficiency in Spanish
Candidates applying in the Spring semester majoring in communications, marketing, or other related majors will be considered to assist with coordination of the regional preparedness conference and exercise
