Community Engagement Coordinator (Program Manager I), Grade 23

NEOGOV is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to support the Office of Food Systems Resilience (OFSR) in Montgomery County. The role focuses on grant program coordination, community engagement, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance local food systems and ensure equitable access to nutritious food.

Responsibilities

Administer County government investment in community organizations through OFSR grant programs and contracts, including drafting application materials, processing agreements and payment, facilitating data collection and reporting, and evaluating and showcasing impact
Provide direct technical assistance to community partner organizations and residents in accessing MCG resources and programs
Organize and participate in community outreach and engagement events
Solicit community insight and feedback to inform County policies and programs
Support OFSR initiatives to secure federal, state, and private dollars to support County food systems initiatives through research, proposal writing, subgrant administration, and program administration
Engage with community members and a wide range of food system partners including food assistance providers, farms and food businesses, government agencies, advocacy and philanthropic organizations, etc
Engage with initiatives led by government agencies and/or community-based organizational partners that intersect with the food system such as food waste reduction, climate adaptation and mitigation, and housing and health equity

Required

Three (3) years of full-time professional experience in public policy and/or program coordination, with a focus on food systems
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted

Preferred

Grants and/or contract coordination, including providing technical assistance, training, or administrative support to grant-funded or contracted organizations
Community outreach and engagement, including prior relevant experience in community-based service delivery, organizing direct resident engagement and feedback opportunities, and/or onsite technical assistance
Collaborating and communicating with a wide range of partners and audiences
Experience contributing to and/or developing communications materials, website content, and presentations for a variety of audiences
Grant-writing and/or development experience related to applying for and reporting on private, state, and/or federal grant funding
Technical skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Teams, Outlook, Excel) and online service platforms
Proficiency with digital communication and design tools (e.g. Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, or Google Analytics)
Working knowledge of Airtable
Multilingual fluency
