Senior Engineer - Transportation Implementation

The City and County of Denver is seeking a Senior Engineer in the Transportation Implementation Division to lead and support the delivery of Vibrant Bond projects. Responsibilities

Create, analyze, and maintain project schedules and budgets in association with defined scopes of work to create cash flow analyses for optimizing the timing of project delivery
Identify and implement innovations to improve project and team performance and efficiency
Facilitate the procurement and management of design teams, oversee bidding and manage contractors to implement work
Manage potentially high-profile projects with unique budget, schedule and political considerations
Coordinate with the community and project stakeholders using effective communication and strong business relationship building skills
Working alongside Transportation Implementation and bond program leadership on risk identification and mitigations and serving as a technical leader in engineering design and developing bid documents for projects
Foster collaborative and innovative partnerships with city, regional, state, and federal agencies, community groups, industry organizations and the non-profit and private sectors to advocate continuous transit and transportation innovations
Occasional after-hours work for community meetings, special events support, and field observations may be required depending on project needs
Interact with utility companies, City agencies/departments, and other governmental agencies to obtain necessary permits and clearances and to ensure regulatory compliance
Understand and manage the contractual obligations of all parties involved in the agreements for contracts that support the delivery of professional and construction services
Understand alternatives in contracting, procurement, and project delivery methods, as well as have the skill/experience to lead projects under these alternate deliver methods

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Three (3) years of professional engineering work experience after obtaining a Professional Engineering (PE) license
Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application
Requires registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers at the time of application
Registration in another state will be accepted in lieu of this requirement, provided that the applicant has Colorado registration at completion of probation
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

Preferred

Three or more years of professional engineering experience with progressive and proven experience in transportation design and/or construction project management, driving projects to completion under tight deadlines and budget constraints
Experience designing, reviewing designs, preparing bid construction documents, and managing the construction of transportation infrastructure projects including roadways, bridges, sidewalks, bicycle facilities, intersection geometrics, pavement markings, traffic signs, and traffic signals
A comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and City agency policies, standards, and systems
A passion for improving our community, mentoring and collaborating others, and continuous innovation
Experience and a comfort level with matrix management
