Responsibilities
Assist in design, construction, and operation of complex test rigs for various chemistry and biology research projects, specifically related to bioreactor and controlled agricultural systems
Setup, calibration, and monitoring of environmental monitoring sensors including pH, dissolved oxygen, soil moisture, electrical conductivity, relative humidity, temperature, CO2 concentration, etc
Collection, analysis, and statistical interpretation of data
Desired proficiency in software such as Python, SolidWorks, Arduino, ImageJ, Excel, PowerPoint
Proficient and familiarity in shop power tools, DC voltage circuitry, and data acquisition and management via dataloggers
Able to work in multi-disciplined teams and on multiple projects
Maintain a lab inventory and submit purchase orders for new equipment
Ensure laboratory compliance with safety, quality assurance, and other company policies
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
BS or MS in Agricultural and Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or similar disciplines
0-2 years of experience
Chemistry/Biology/Biochemistry wet laboratory experience
General knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of biological, environmental or chemical engineering and their application in characterizing physical-chemical and biological processes
Experience with Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc
Proficient in developing control algorithms for instrumentation and automation of biological systems (e.g. dataloggers and PC controlled systems)
Familiarity with laboratory best practices and experience working as a bench engineer/biological scientist
Experience with rapid prototyping utilizing 3D printers, hand tools and shop equipment
Preferred
Desired proficiency in software such as Python, SolidWorks, Arduino, ImageJ, Excel, PowerPoint
Proficient and familiarity in shop power tools, DC voltage circuitry, and data acquisition and management via dataloggers
