Lead System Administrator/Software Developer
The University of Dayton is seeking a Lead System Administrator/Software Developer responsible for managing Linux-based servers and developing software solutions. Qualification
Required
Associates Degree OR Bachelors Degree OR 4+ years of related experience
A minimum of 5 years experience administering Ubuntu Linux, configuring Various SQL unstructured and vector databases, and with the Python programming language
Demonstrable experience with Docker and containerized services
DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) recognized computer security certification (Security+, Network+, etc.)
Experience with Direct Attached Storage (RAID)
General Linux server and network operations and maintenance
Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen
Preferred
8+ years of professional experience administering Linux systems in production or mission‑critical environments
Higher‑level DoD cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, CCSP) or additional DCWF‑aligned credentials
Advanced proficiency with SQL, NoSQL, and vector database technologies, including performance tuning, replication, and backup/restore strategies
Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms
Experience designing and securing containerized architectures, including CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
Experience with enterprise storage solutions
Strong networking background
Experience collaborating in Agile or DevSecOps environments, including version control (Git) and issue‑tracking systems
Strong documentation skills and experience documenting work performed and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
