United Way is a leading nonprofit organization that mobilizes communities to tackle complex challenges globally. They are seeking an intern for their Marketing & Communications team to support storytelling and engagement projects while gaining valuable experience in nonprofit communications.

Responsibilities

Support opportunities for increased United Way storytelling (internal/network-facing and external/public-facing)
Review stories submitted from the network for potential web publication
Pursue story leads from internal and external sources
Draft impact stories or other content, such as supporter testimonials
Review webpages and identify opportunities for contextual asks, opportunities to cross-promote key impact stories, or gaps in existing content
Improve understanding of United Way network email engagement
Collect and analyze email performance metrics from HubSpot (email platform)
Track performance of KPIs over time
Identify trends and potential mitigations or amplifications
Present findings and suggestions to Marketing & Communications stakeholders
Assist in building and/or updating email engagement assets and architecture
Basic lists/segments for ongoing email communications
Evergreen content for ongoing email communications (e.g., new supporter or new subscriber welcome series)
Exercise core competencies required for future careers in marketing and/or communications, such as
Proofreading materials, as assigned
Drafting new materials, as assigned

Required

Current students attending a college or university
Eligible to work within the United States and have all documentation at the time of application

Ability to carry projects from ideation through completion
Ability to negotiate analytical and interpersonal perspectives
Interest in nonprofit marketing and communications or nonprofit sector career
Strong writing and comprehension skills
Exposure to or familiarity with email platforms (HubSpot, MailChimp, etc.)
Exposure to or familiarity with POS or CRM tools
