GMHBC Manager

Responsibilities

Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast and friendly service
Assist customers by making product suggestions
Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via:
Telephone
In-store intercom announcements
One-on-one customer interaction
Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and escalate to Store Director as needed
Assume responsibility for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director (see Store Director job description)
Plan General Merchandise (GM) daily operations; monitor production processes for compliance and profitability
Build GM/HBC displays; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled products; ensure cleanliness of work area and department
Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays
Follow and maintain department standards and requirements
Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance
Schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels
Maintain specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening and closing procedures
Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees
Train employees in store policies, sales techniques, and record-keeping procedures
Identify and develop employees with high potential for advancement
Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook
Enforce proper code dating for all products within the department
Initiate personnel actions such as interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary measures
Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every six months
Control inventory to ensure adequate quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain levels per division directives
Stock and rotate products; order general merchandise per division directives
Supervise reclamation processing; maintain orderly and in-stock conditions in back room and all Drug Department areas
Control shrink and costs
Operate related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, and safety cutters
