Responsibilities

Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast and friendly service
Assist customers with product suggestions and engage in suggestive selling techniques (telephone, intercom, and in‑person)
Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer complaints or escalate to the Store Director as needed
Responsible for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director
Monitor daily GM operations, production processes, and profitability
Implement promotional and seasonal displays and maintain department standards
Oversee cleanliness, organization, rotation, and removal of outdated/expired products
Schedule employees to ensure proper coverage and service levels
Supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees
Ensure employees understand store policies, sales practices, and record‑keeping procedures
Identify and train high‑potential employees for advancement
Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance
Oversee opening and closing procedures performed by department staff
Ensure proper code dating for all products and enforce compliance
Control inventory levels to maintain freshness, quality, and adequate stock
Order general merchandise products and follow division directives for inventory levels
Supervise reclamation processing and maintain organized back‑room and department areas
Control shrink and manage costs
Build GM/HBC displays following company guidelines and seasonal directives
Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify invoices, inspect quality, report shortages, and rotate product
Follow temperature requirements, storage standards, and proper packaging techniques
Complete and maintain administrative paperwork, including daily logs, sales and labor reports, and inventory records
Prepare sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every six months
Ensure compliance with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and company code‑dating policies
Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and displays
Implement emergency procedures during equipment or software malfunctions
Operate computer systems and electronic devices for ordering and department functions
Ensure adherence to company grooming standards and dress code
Perform all duties safely, accurately, honestly, and with integrity
Attend and participate in sales meetings
Communicate sales goals, department performance, and opportunities to team members
Perform additional duties as required
