FIELD REPRESENTATIVE, DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE
Caltrans District 3 is seeking a Field Representative for the Department of Justice. The role involves providing outreach and training to various law enforcement and legal entities while conducting audits and developing solutions to identified problems.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Independently providing ongoing outreach and training to local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, district attorneys, public crime laboratories, correctional institutions, parole agencies, medical providers, and other entities as appropriate
Conduct field audits
Identify reporting and processing problems
Analyze problems and develop solutions
Conduct analytical studies
Make recommendations to management
Assist in the implementation of new mandates
Qualification
Required
The position(s) requires that incumbents pass a Background Investigation prior to being hired
The Background Investigation may include Criminal Background and a review of any governmental records
A fingerprint check is required
A valid Class “C” California Driver License is required

Preferred
Knowledge of: Methods, techniques, procedures, and terminology used in criminal investigations; types of crimes, laws, regulations, and the criminal justice system from arrest through conviction, incarceration, parole or probation; functions and organization of the various agencies in the criminal justice community; criminal record information systems of the Department of Justice; laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to use and disclosure of criminal record information; criminal record data reporting procedures and regulations; auditing principles and methods; training methods and techniques; and effective conference leadership techniques
Ability to: Apply program knowledge in analyzing, evaluating, and resolving complex problems relating to criminal record data reporting; interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations and policies of the Department; consult with and advise Department management and client agencies on issues and problems; develop and maintain effective working relations with criminal justice agencies, Department management, and others; present information and ideas effectively, both orally and in writing; coordinate the work of others and act in a lead capacity; speak effectively before groups of all sizes; and develop and conduct effective training programs for criminal justice personnel
