ENGINEER, WATER RESOURCES

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for managing California's water resources and infrastructure. The Engineer, Water Resources will perform a variety of engineering duties related to the State Water Project, focusing on managing encroachments and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Government Administration

Responsibilities

Review, coordinate, and manage third-party requests for encroachments, planned (future) developments, and unauthorized encroachments, that may impact the operations and maintenance of the SWP
Review and analyze engineered drawings and specifications, project descriptions, environmental documents, field observations by others, photo documentation, and other supporting documentation
Compile and prepare comment matrices
Develop actionable revision requests for management approval
Work with internal and external stakeholders
Perform site visits and inspections
Conduct/lead meetings
Assist in developing process and procedures, and project management activities
Work cooperatively with others
Maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance
Exercise good judgment
Apply knowledge and expertise in design, construction, and maintenance of major water project facilities
Apply knowledge of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and various California Water Codes as they apply to the SWP
Travel throughout the State by air or vehicle

Required
