They are seeking a highly skilled Lead Real-Time Software Architect to lead the architecture and optimization of multicore embedded software systems, ensuring safety and performance standards are met while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with external vendors.

Responsibilities

Defining and leading the architecture for real-time and mixed-criticality systems, including system decomposition, interface design, and resource management
Establishing safety, security, and domain isolation across system boundaries
Selecting and integrating appropriate operating systems, virtualization, and middleware technologies
Overseeing hardware/software co-design and performance tuning
Setting verification and validation (V&V) strategies, certification approaches, and building continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and testing frameworks
Mentoring team members, representing technical authority in customer engagements, and collaborating with vendors
Driving performance evaluations, reliability assessments, and optimizing multicore embedded software for high-assurance applications

Required

Over 10 years of experience in embedded, real-time, or avionics systems
Proven track record in software architecture and development
Hands-on experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), separation kernels, or hypervisors such as seL4, ARINC 653, or PikeOS
Strong understanding of mixed-criticality design, determinism, and timing/resource budgeting
Knowledge of hardware/software co-design involving drivers, interrupts, DMA, and memory/cache strategies
Familiarity with safety and security certification standards such as DO-178C, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or similar
Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related fields
Experience in safety certification processes and embedded system testing practices
