Responsibilities
Install, route, and secure single-mode and multi-mode fiber-optic cabling per project drawings and specifications
Perform fusion splicing and mechanical splicing of fiber-optic cables using industry-standard equipment
Terminate fiber connections at patch panels, enclosures, and distribution frames
Conduct end-to-end fiber testing using OTDRs, power meters, and light sources to validate performance and signal integrity
Troubleshoot fiber faults, signal loss, and connectivity issues
Read and interpret blueprints, fiber schematics, and cable schedules
Maintain accurate splicing logs, test results, and as-built documentation
Coordinate with construction managers, network engineers, and other trades onsite
Adhere to all site safety requirements, data center protocols, and UNICON/client standards
Qualification
Required
2+ years of hands-on experience in fiber-optic installation and splicing
Proven experience with fusion splicing and fiber testing tools (OTDR, power meter, light source)
Strong understanding of fiber-optic standards, cable types, and termination methods
Ability to work onsite in construction or live data center environments
Ability to lift, climb, bend, and work in confined or elevated spaces as required
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred
Data center or hyperscale campus experience
Experience supporting large technology clients or mission-critical facilities
Industry certifications (ETA, FOA, BICSI, or equivalent)
Familiarity with structured cabling and low-voltage systems
