Responsibilities
Exercise superior communication skills and filter a vast amount of information accurately
Interface effectively with patients, physicians, and all other levels within the organization
Coordinate surgical procedures the day of through the coordination of the Surgery Charge nurse and anesthesia
Daily coordination of inbound and outbound calls for the department
Handle multiple staff requests by directing the request to the most appropriate person in a timely manner
Distribute final schedules to all appropriate areas on a daily basis
Participate in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation
Qualification
Required
High School education and experience in medical terminology
Clerical experience and/or hospital experience desirable
Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel, with proficient data entry skills
Has a working knowledge of CPT and ICD9 ICD10 codes to add-on surgical procedures the day of, through the coordination of the Surgery Charge nurse and anesthesia
Preferred
Prior experience in surgery scheduling
