Responsibilities
Drive the long-term architecture of our Identity Management platform
Translate product and market requirements into designs that align with the mid- and long-term goals for our product and technology evolution
Design, implement, review, and troubleshoot highly scalable, mission-critical software
Foster, enable, and promote a culture of innovation
Analyze and refine requirements in close collaboration with Product Management
Work with engineering management to scope and plan engineering efforts, especially those spanning multiple teams
Champion test-driven development, and uphold high standards for design and code reviews
Collaborate with QA, SREs/Technical Operations, Product Management, Technical Support, Documentation, and UX teams
Mentor junior engineers to foster their growth and development
Drive key technical initiatives across Okta Product Development
Qualification
Required
15+ years of backend software development experience building highly reliable, mission-critical software
Deep experience with server-side technologies, including caching, asynchronous processing, and multi-threading
Proven experience working in Security, Governance, or Authentication & Authorization domains
Experience designing and implementing REST APIs
A solid grasp of software engineering principles and best practices
Experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD)
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
Preferred
Experience with Java, MySQL, and Postgres
Experience with Identity Management, specifically Identity Governance & Administration (IGA)
Deep knowledge of Identity and Access Management protocols and technologies (e.g., OAuth, SAML, SCIM)
