Environmental Engineering Intern

Oneida ESC Group is a Native American, tribally-owned small business specializing in environmental, engineering, and construction support services. They are seeking a motivated Environmental Engineering Intern to support remediation projects during the summer term, providing hands-on experience in environmental site assessment and remediation activities.

Responsibilities

Assist with environmental remediation projects, including site investigations and corrective action activities
Support fieldwork such as soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, and remediation system monitoring
Collect, organize, and analyze environmental data
Assist in the preparation of technical reports, figures, and tables
Support compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, state cleanup programs)
Participate in health and safety planning and adhere to site-specific safety protocols
Collaborate with project teams to support project planning, scheduling, and documentation

Required

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
Basic understanding of environmental remediation concepts and regulatory frameworks
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Willingness to perform fieldwork in varying weather and site conditions

Preferred

Completed coursework in environmental engineering, soil mechanics, groundwater, or contaminant transport (preferred)
Prior internship or coursework related to environmental remediation or site assessment
Familiarity with sampling techniques and field equipment
Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, GIS, or similar software)
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain)
