Quality & Operational Improvement Engineer - DeGowin Blood Center
University of Iowa Research is seeking a Quality and Operational Improvement Engineer to enhance the quality system management program at the DeGowin Blood Center. The role involves coordinating error management programs, auditing processes for compliance, and assisting with external inspections to ensure a safe blood supply and donation process.
Research
Responsibilities
Coordinates, reviews, manages and maintains an error management program for the DeGowin Blood Center
Participates in document review, including quality assurance documents
Audits quality and operational processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
Participates in the development and review of policies, processes and procedures related to the quality management program
Assists in the preparation and on-site hosting of external inspections
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
1-3 years laboratory or quality program experience
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with effective leadership skills is required
Demonstrated ability to work independently, to meet deadlines efficiently, to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and to be highly self-motivated is required
Preferred
MT(ASCP) (or other ASCP certification) or NCA certification with specialty certification as a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB)
Experience in an academic Medical Center, preferably in Transfusion Medicine
Knowledge of the regulations and accrediting standards of the following agencies: CMS, TJC, CAP, and AABB
