Responsibilities
Bench Operations: Perform hands-on diagnostics, repairs, upgrades, and data transfers on desktops and laptops. Build custom computer systems to specification with high attention to detail and cable management
MSP Support: Provide Level 1 support for managed business clients, including troubleshooting internet connectivity, printer issues, and basic Windows Server user management (under supervision)
Onsite Service: Travel to local client sites to assist with workstation setups, network equipment installation, and physical cabling tasks as directed
Ticketing: Accurately document all work performed, detailed troubleshooting steps, parts used, and time spent in the company ticketing system immediately following every service
Client Communication: Update the General Manager and customers regarding job status, parts delays, or changes in scope. Translate technical details into clear, understandable language for clients
Data Privacy: Handle all customer data with strict confidentiality and discretion, adhering to Renaissance Computing’s data privacy policies
Qualification
Required
Minimum of one year of experience in computer repair, IT support, or a strong portfolio of equivalent enthusiast/hobbyist experience (e.g., custom PC building, home lab setup)
Thorough knowledge of computer components (motherboards, GPUs, CPUs, PSUs) and the ability to assemble, diagnose, and repair desktops and laptops without supervision
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Windows 10/11 installation, debloating, and troubleshooting
A solid understanding of basic networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP) and the ability to set up and secure SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) routers and Wi-Fi
A demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to non-technical customers, both on the telephone and face-to-face
Valid Driver's License and access to reliable transportation (required for occasional onsite client visits)
Preferred
Previous experience working with a Managed Service Provider or ticketing system
Exposure to Windows Server environments (Active Directory, User Management) and business-grade network equipment (Ubiquiti, switches, patch panels)
Ability to terminate Ethernet cables (Cat5e/Cat6) and troubleshoot physical connectivity issues
Familiarity with MacOS troubleshooting and support
