Specialist, Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

Support the performance, verification, and sustainment of fielded tactical communication systems and components to ensure operational readiness
Participate in formal engineering analyses, reviewing system performance parameters at the overall system and individual component levels
Design, develop, and release data management, processing, and reporting software tools to support system operations and maintenance
Investigate and troubleshoot system performance issues, including operational environment impacts, to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
Generate technical documentation, including papers, calculations, and briefings, to communicate findings and recommendations effectively
Present technical briefs and project updates to internal management and stakeholder teams, ensuring clarity and technical accuracy
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve system designs and operational procedures
Maintain compliance with security protocols and handle classified information in accordance with government regulations
Participate in system testing, including building test cases, assessing software and hardware performance, and documenting defects and resolutions
Assist in the integration of tactical radios, such as MIDS-JTRS, JTIDS Class 2, and JRE, and interfaces like MIL-STD-1553B

Required

B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience
Graduate degree with at least four (4) years of applicable experience, or ten (10) years of relevant experience without a degree
Current DOD Secret Security Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS/SCI) clearance
Strong background in troubleshooting Data Link systems such as Link16, CMF, or similar communication systems in both single and multi-level security environments
Experience in software coding, development, and interpreting technical documentation
Familiarity with military standards, such as Mil-Standards 3011, 6016, 6018, and 6020
Experience working with UNIX/Linux commands
Experience with systems and software requirements management tools like DOORS or JIRA
Knowledge of tactical radios and interfaces
Ability to handle classified materials securely

Preferred

Certifications such as Security+
Familiarity with networking technologies
Military or DoD experience
