Technical Writer

Bowhead / UIC Technical Services is a reputable organization dedicated to providing innovative solutions and expert support to government agencies and defense sectors. The Technical Writer/Editor position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical research and development efforts supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, focusing on producing and managing technical documentation related to navy programs and weapon systems.

Responsibilities

Providing comprehensive technical writing and editing support, ensuring technical documentation is accurate and adheres to established guidelines
Performing configuration management of documents, maintaining an organized and accessible repository of government publications and technical files
Managing document libraries, collecting, classifying, and facilitating access to a wide array of documents
Providing meeting support by scheduling, facilitating discussions, preparing minutes, and tracking action items to ensure all project milestones are met
Supporting project management activities, particularly in evaluating whether project goals, requirements, and objectives are achieved, with an emphasis on Navy weapon systems and related programs
Supporting procurement processes and maintaining compliance with organizational standards

Required

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in English, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field
A minimum of two years of experience in technical writing, editing, formatting, and configuration management of technical documentation
Experience supporting meetings, including scheduling, facilitating, preparing minutes, and tracking action items
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office tools such as Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Strong interpersonal skills
Sound judgment
Ability to work independently or collaboratively
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred

Knowledge of project management concepts, especially related to procurement processes and Navy programs
Working knowledge of MS Project
