Responsibilities
Exercise superior communication skills and filter a vast amount of information accurately
Interface effectively with patients, physicians, and all other levels within the organization
Coordinate surgical procedures with the Surgery Charge nurse and anesthesia
Daily coordination of inbound and outbound calls for the department
Handle multiple staff requests by directing them to the most appropriate person in a timely manner
Distribute final schedules to all appropriate areas on a daily basis
Participate in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation
Qualification
Required
High School education and experience in medical terminology
Clerical experience and/or hospital experience desirable
Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel, with proficient data entry skills
Ability to exercise superior communication skills and filter a vast amount of information accurately
Ability to interface effectively with patients, physicians, and all other levels within the organization
Working knowledge of CPT, DRG and ICD9 codes to add-on surgical procedures
Daily coordination of inbound and outbound calls for the department
Ability to handle multiple staff requests and direct them to the most appropriate person in a timely manner
Ability to complete patient transportation information for transporters
Support nursing staff lab requests using paging system for transporter pick up and delivery
Preferred
Prior experience in surgery scheduling
