Responsibilities

Design and develop structural frameworks using wood for residential houses, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and compliance with building standards
Collaborate with architects, builders, and project managers to integrate structural designs into overall construction plans
Analyze architectural plans and materials to determine structural needs, load-bearing capacities, and construction techniques
Perform structural calculations to ensure the framework meets all safety and building codes
Specify and select appropriate wood materials for the construction, balancing sustainability, cost, and performance
Oversee and inspect construction sites to ensure that the wood structural framework is built according to design specifications and standards
Identify potential design and structural issues and recommend cost-effective solutions
Stay updated with the latest building codes, material innovations, and construction techniques for wood structures

Required

PhD in Structural Engineering, or related field

Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to wood structures

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Preferred

Experience with sustainable or green building practices
Knowledge of timber frame construction or mass timber products like CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber)
