Responsibilities
Design, develop, implement, verify, and test algorithms, software, and simulation tools for GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) systems
Perform statistical processing of measured data points and integrate them into algorithms that simulate physical reality for navigation functions
Formulate equations and develop guidance functions to achieve desired position, orientation, or orbit in space
Create and analyze control laws, as well as define hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles, and spacecraft
Develop and apply signal and image‑processing algorithms for target detection, tracking, and discrimination using EO/IR sensor data
Evaluate algorithm and missile system performance with high‑fidelity 6‑DOF and hardware‑in‑the‑loop simulations
Model, simulate, and analyze system behavior, incorporating machine‑learning and advanced statistical techniques as needed
Build and maintain analysis tools in C++, MATLAB, and Python
Collaborate within cross‑disciplinary technical teams using agile development practices
Produce technical documentation and present technical information to diverse audiences
Travel up to 10 % of the time to support project activities

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master's degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree
Requires an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Proven background developing signal‑ and image‑processing algorithms for EO/IR sensor data, targeting detection, tracking, and discrimination
Ability to evaluate algorithm and missile‑system performance using high‑fidelity 6‑DOF and hardware‑in‑the‑loop simulations
Strong experience in modeling, simulation, analysis, and end‑to‑end algorithm development
Familiarity with machine‑learning methods and advanced statistical techniques to enhance algorithm robustness
Proficiency in creating and maintaining analysis tools in C++, MATLAB, and Python
Demonstrated success working in cross‑disciplinary technical teams, applying agile software‑development practices, producing technical documentation, and presenting to broad audiences
Ability to travel up to 10 % of the time for project‑related activities
Preferred
Extensive control systems theory and flight dynamics experience
Extensive experience with IR discrimination and tracking
Experience working with GNC algorithms for hypersonic missiles
Experience with AEGIS weapon system
