Senior Controls Engineer
KnowHireMatch is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to serve as the technical authority for automation and electrical systems at their high-volume manufacturing complex. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and optimization of complex control systems in a continuous production environment, leading capital projects and driving engineering initiatives to enhance plant reliability.

Responsibilities
Lead Capital Engineering Projects: Take full ownership of industrial electrical and controls projects ($100k+ scope), from initial justification and design to commissioning and vendor management
Optimize Complex Automation: Enhance the functionality and networking of PLC, HMI, and VFD systems. A primary focus will be overseeing the replacement of obsolete coordinated drive systems on critical production lines
Drive Reliability & Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into systemic electrical issues, implementing engineered solutions to permanently eliminate downtime and improve system responsiveness
Technical Mentorship: Serve as a bridge between engineering and operations, mentoring electricians, supervisors, and junior engineers to sharpen the site's overall technical capability
Safety Leadership: Ensure all systems and integrations comply with NFPA 70E standards and corporate engineering specifications
Qualification
Required
Deep proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
5-7 years of experience in controls engineering within a continuous manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET)
Proven ability to manage budgets, external contractors, and project timelines while maintaining high engineering standards
The ability to translate complex technical risks into actionable insights for plant leadership
You will have the authority to shape the plant's technical roadmap and manage full-lifecycle projects
Ensure all systems and integrations comply with NFPA 70E standards and corporate engineering specifications
Preferred
Specific experience with coordinated drive systems (e.g., matlines or wind-ups) is highly preferred
