SQL Database Engineer

Phila SQL Users Group (PSSUG) is seeking a SQL Database Engineer to design, develop, and maintain data solutions. The role involves building and optimizing database objects, architecting ETL/ELT pipelines, and collaborating with teams to deliver scalable data solutions.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain relational and cloud-native data solutions using Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022, Snowflake, CosmosDB, and Redis
Build, optimize, and support database objects including tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, and functions using advanced T-SQL
Architect and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and streaming workloads using SSIS, cloud-native data integration tools, and modern DataOps practices
Develop, deploy, and support SSIS packages, MS-ISPACs, DACPACs, and database projects across multiple environments
Implement Redis for caching, session management, and real-time analytics to support high-performance applications
Design and maintain reporting and data visualization solutions using SSRS, Sigma Computing, and other BI platforms
Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and product teams within an Agile/Scrum or SAFe Agile environment to deliver scalable data solutions
Apply query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning to support multi-terabyte, high-throughput data platforms
Ensure data security, governance, compliance, and resiliency across SQL Server, Snowflake, and cloud data platforms
Support database and ETL deployments using Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Flyway, Octopus Deploy, and SonarQube
Troubleshoot and resolve complex data platform issues related to performance, reliability, and scalability
Follow full SDLC practices, leveraging tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps for work management and delivery
