Electrical Engineer III

Higher Education

Responsibilities

Design and analyze electrical circuits and subsystems
Develop and review schematics, layouts, and technical documentation
Support PCB design, bring-up, testing, and validation
Troubleshoot electrical and system-level issues
Support integration with power electronics, embedded, and mechanical systems
Contribute to technical reports, proposals, and sponsor deliverables

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field
4-7+ years of electrical engineering experience
Demonstrated experience in PCB design for power converters
Hands-on laboratory testing of systems above 20 kW and 1,000 V
Application of modern power-electronics devices and topologies
Ability to design and analyze electrical circuits and subsystems
Development and review of schematics, layouts, and technical documentation
Support for PCB design, bring-up, testing, and validation
Troubleshooting at the circuit and system level
Support for integration with power electronics, embedded controls, and mechanical systems
Experience with wide-bandgap devices (SiC, GaN), gate drives, magnetics (inductors and transformers), and EMI/EMC design considerations
Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, LTSpice, PLECS, and ANSYS
Collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams
Contribution to technical reports, proposals, and sponsor deliverables

Preferred

Strongly Preferred: Experience with PCB design for power converters (AC/DC, DC/DC)
Strongly Preferred: Testing experience with high power systems, including testing documentation/procedures and safety standards
Strongly Preferred: Experience with high power (above 20 kW) and high voltage (+1000V)
Strongly Preferred: Experience with some of the following identified topologies: DAB, DABSRC, NPC rectifiers, 3-level and multi-port converters
Strongly Preferred: Experience with wide-band gap devices (GaN, SiC) and gate drive
Strongly Preferred: Knowledge with software packages MATLAB SimuLink, LTSpice, PLECS, and ANSYS
Master's Degree preferred
PE Certification
Recognized advanced credentials in electrical or power systems engineering
EMI/EMC knowledge and design considerations
Controls for power electronics is desired (digital, current and voltage modes, frequency modulation, micro-controllers and FPGA)
Experience with conventional magnetics (inductors, transformers)
Advantage to have experience with solid state transformer technology or wireless power transfer systems
